Souvenirs & CTF Eastern Esplanade, Paington – with, I was going to say, probably the worst weather of August (so far) until Saturday when the Steam Fair was cancelled for the day, so we felt it right to cancel Paignton, but many Thanks to those who had offered to Cover the Flag.
Weather on Sunday vastly improved for the Steam Fair and we made up for Saturday’s lost revenue.
This period is traditionally our busiest with nine full days of Cover the Flag so again our Thanks to all those who are braving the elements to capture some much-needed donations.
Coffee Morning this month is to be at Rockfish on Wed 9 August 10am – 11.30am, £3 on the Door with Raffle (please note we will NOT have a Cakes stall at Rockfish as we want to save those for Sunday) (see below), look forward to seeing you there.
Seaside Special:
Sunday 13 August is the culmination of this Fundraising “week” when we will have our Stalls opposite the Lifeboat Station from 10am – 4pm. Crafts, Books, Jigsaws/Toys, Cakes & Jams, etc if you can lend a hand on any of the Stalls, even if for just an hour we would be grateful. Also donations to the Cake Stall will be appreciated.
Preparing and dismantling the Stalls/Gazebos is very crucial (and a bit tiring) so if you can lend a hand either in setting up in the morning or coming along later in the afternoon, please do let me know.
Now that “distractions” such as the Kili Challenge are now complete and Covid is (hopefully) a dim and distant memory/nightmare, we will be working with our friends from the crew (and others) to return to when Seaside Special was once, a really great day of fun and entertainment.
Annual Dedication of our Lifeboats: This takes place on Friday 18 August at 7 pm on the Old Fish Quay. This is a very important event especially for our Crews as we and the general public gather to acknowledge the extreme courage of our Crew members and look for their safety in the coming year. Helen Lovell-Smith from the Fishermen’s Mission will again lead the Service, Brixham Town Band will accompany us in the Hymns and our avid supporters “All Hands On Deck” will entertain us with a handful of appropriate Shanty songs.
Souvenirs – Sunday 27 August:
A late addition to our Programme as “YES at the Edge” are holding a fundraiser for their charity and have invited us to have our Souvenir Stall at Brixham Rugby Ground from 10am – 5 pm. Dave and I will set things up but if anyone can spare us 2 hours on the day to spread the workload, just let me know when you can spare a shift.
Fish Quay Market:
Our Charity Tuesday event is on 29th August 10 am – 4 pm on the Old Fish Quay, again helpers on the range of Stalls are requested together with donations to Cakes and Tombola, let me know if you can help please.
Programme October – March (2024):
TLF Committee will be finalising the Programme next week and we just have one or two items to firm up, including our arrangements for the RNLI 200th Anniversary Launch Event on 4 March 2024.
Peter
