Apologies if this seems a bit late but as I start to write this we are shortly going to Torquay and the Day Lewis Pharmacy to find out the result of their event.
Other fundraising successes so far in June were;-
Coffee Morning at Brixham Rugby Club which raised £262. We had a bit of a malfunction with the hot water urn but overcame that and supporters didn’t have to wait too long to enjoy their tea/coffee.
Jubilee Stalls and Cover the Flag, a similar day as for the May Day event with overcast skies and a persistent drizzle, typically when we decided to have an early close around 3 p.m. the sun came out!! Notwithstanding that we raised £507 and we were entertained by our friends the Shanty Band “All Hands on Deck”.
A last-minute event came from a car enthusiasts group the Triumph 2000 Register (East Midlands) whose application to Poole only found its way to us once it was realised at HQ that their event was actually being held in Torbay at the Whitehill Country Park.
For the week-long event we provided some collecting buckets and we attended on the final day with our Souvenir Stall. The result was a donation of £495 from them plus £97 in the buckets and we did £175 of Retail sales so a good result all round.
Day Lewis Pharmacy:
Another “un-planned” fundraiser as far as our Programme is concerned but what a result. We were contacted by the Pharmacy in Torquay who wanted to run a week-long annual community event and to do it on behalf of the RNLI.
TLF Volunteers, did 2-hour shifts throughout the week with collecting buckets plus our new contactless card machine, the staff organised raffles, cake sales etc and Day Lewis would match £ for £ whatever was raised.
Today Angela, Stormy Stan and I went over for their Fun Day, Stormy cut the ribbon and the Pharmacy team provided refreshments, plus above all else a cheque for £1,784.04p a wonderful outcome, so, even without the £ for £ donation from Day Lewis almost £900 during a week is a really good result. We’ll have some photos on our FB page soon.
So onwards and upwards, our next Coffee Morning is at All Saints Church on Wednesday 6 July as part of their Sea Week celebrations, 10 a.m.- Midday Raffle & Cake Stall so please do come along and support that.
July sees our key fundraiser with “Proms in the Garden” at the Berry Head Hotel on Sunday 10 July, doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start, tickets (£20) available via https://bit.ly/Proms2022 or via Jill on 01803 431752.
CFT Events in July/August: please check out the Programme for these events and contact Cathy Craig email@example.com if you can fill an hours slot.
Paignton Craft Markets:
Many thanks to those of you who have offered to staff the souvenirs stalls over the coming Friday evenings.
The Team successfully did their Skydive and as I write this they are game-fully cycling across the Scottish Isles, albeit not without transport challenges.
I will update you separately about the Swim Challenge in July so you can go along and support our intrepid crew as they circumnavigate the waters of Torbay.
I will include “shouts” in that update.
