Newsletter 02042024:
Welcome to our Newsletter and first of all:-
Coffee Morning @ Old Market House, Brixham this morning; we have always enjoyed the hospitality this venue provides and today proved no different, Jess and her Crew really pulled out the stops to ensure we had a good get together. We basically ran out of seats so that tells you just how popular the event was. At the end of the morning we had made £435.90 ;- £100 on the Raffle, £78.40 on Cakes & Jams and £257.50 on the Door, an incredible hour and a half.
Our thanks to all of you who made that possible, will our next Coffee Morning @ the Berry Head Hotel on 14 May will be just as good? Only you can decide!!
200th Anniversary:
A key part of this year is the Signing of a Scroll by every one of the 238 Lifeboat Stations. His Majesty our King started “the ball rolling” and incrementally the Scroll has been making its way around the coast of the UK. It will arrive in Brixham (Torbay) this Thursday 4 April @ 11 am where our new Coxswain Andrew Medley will sign it on our behalf. Please do come down to the Lifeboat Station to witness and enjoy this celebration.
Forthcoming Events:
We are at Morrisons Supermarket next week 9th and 10th with our annual bucket collection. We have “opportunities” for you to help on Wednesday 10th between midday & 2pm, so please contact me if you can spare an hour.
Pirate Weekend:
On Sunday 5th May we have our Stalls Event outside the Lifeboat Station, if you can again, spare an hour to help, please let me know or if you can help to set up the gazebos (around 9am) or take them down (4pm) please do contact me.
Kings Quay Shop:
Thanks to a great deal of hard work, particularly by Hilary and Jane our new outlet finally opened on Good Friday and has been doing good business over the intervening days. Hours of opening are 11am – 2pm so by all means pop over and take a look at the new place, it really IS nice.
People:
Where would we be without them? Vanessa Wade-Coates (Ness) has taken over responsibility for Social Media from Sparks (thank you Ness and Sparks) and we are hoping that soon Barbara Smithson will get a break, after 20 years as our Committee Secretary (watch this space).
General:
Please check the Events Programme we have circulated and let me know if there are any Events you could help at, no matter how far into the future it may seem. That way I may be able to sleep at night!!!
Take Care
Peter
