Latest Newsletter

Newsletter 18042024:

Welcome to what is quite a “packed” Newsletter!!  First off some recent Events;-

We began April at the Old Market House Coffee Morning where an amazing 70+ attendees raised a magnificent £436, this was quickly followed by 2 days of Bucket Collecting at Morrisons in Paignton with £447 raised and finally for April our Souvenir Stall & Cover the Flag at Pier Point in Torquay brought in a huge £478.  Many, many, thanks to all you Volunteers who made those Events (and results) happen.

Future Events:
Well you can almost hear the “Ooooo ‘Aaaaars” as Pirate Weekend will be upon us from 4-6 May and for us that means Cover the Flag days at Lifeboat Station and on Sunday 5 May we also have our Stalls there too, anyone who can spare an hour helping out that day will be very welcome whether running a Stall or helping to erect or gazebos or take things down at the end of the day, please DO let me know.

Foodbank Appeal:- On Bank Holiday Monday we are launching a MayDay Appeal on behalf of the Torbay Foodbanks (9 in total!!).  We will have a specially designed Collection Box secured against the Kiosk railings for donations (which we will empty daily).  The Appeal will run throughout May after which we will distribute contributions across Torbay.  Please do consider donating food or other items the Foodbanks require and we will be publicising this across Torbay to the general public.

Our next Coffee Morning is at the ever-popular Berry Head Hotel on Tuesday 14 May 10a.m. – 11.30a.m. with Raffle & Cake Stall available.

Late Monday May Bank Holiday sees us back in Torquay at the Harbourside with our Souvenir Stall please contact Debbie 07799 055680 or myself on 855329/07484 634667 of you can help.

Paignton Harbour Friday Night Markets:
These re-start mid-June through to end of July with our Souvenir Stalls 4pm – 6pm & 6pm – 8pm, please do let me know if you can run the Stall for one of the 2-hour slots.

“Coin Collectors Corner”:
Our Treasurer has a commemorative 1989 £2 coin for the Tercentenary of The Bill Of Rights – it has been used but is in very good condition.  If anybody is interested then we are looking at bids over £5. Please email dpsmithson@outlook.com

Calling all Golfers:
Whilst it may not float my sporting boat it seems Golf Days are a really good way of raising Funds for RNLI Branches.  If you would like to take part in a Golf Day on behalf of Torbay, or even if you wish to organise such an event Even Better, please do get in touch.

Proms in the Garden 2024
We couldn’t let our 200th Anniversary pass without holding one of our most prestigious and enjoyable evenings within the Walled Garden at Berry Head Hotel and with the Concert Band from Dartmouth Naval College and Soprano Donna Marie.

Sunday 30 June is the date for your diaries, ticket information will be with you very soon.  The Proms Raffle is always a “high-class” affair so if you know anyone who could donate a prize “that money can’t buy” please let me know.

Until next time, take care.

Peter
