Newsletter 05072024:

“Proms in the Garden”;- Although the Event was enjoyable and the weather kind to us (until last “chilly” 20 mins), numbers were down.  We think we know why but we will discuss in Committee and see what we need to change to take us back to the almost “sell out” days in 2022.

Torbay Steam Fair 2/3/4 August.
We will have our Souvenir Stall there on each day 10am – 4pm but we need pairs of volunteers to run the stall in 2-hour sessions please.  Let me know if you can help.

“Food & Music Fest” Sat 10 August:
A new event organised by the Crew as part of the 200th Anniversary celebrations within the grounds of Kings Quay and we have an authorised Bucket Collection from 10am – 5 pm outside the “Man & Boy” statue.  I appreciate there is a Cover the Flag outside LBS on the same day but if you can spare me an hour that day I would be grateful.

“Lifeboat Day Stalls” Sun 11 August:
We will have our usual Stalls opposite the LBS from 10am – 4pm when we hope the weather will be a vast improvement on Pirate Weekend.  Help required with erecting the Gazebos from 9am and offers of “stall keeping” (2-hours) will really be appreciated.  That afternoon the Crew will be taking part in a Search & Rescue demonstration on Breakwater Beach so if anyone wishes to take a Bucket along we should capture some additional donations.  Just contact me.

“Annual Dedication of our Lifeboats” Sunday 18 August @ 6.30 on the Quay
Please do come along and support this popular Event where we express our gratitude to our brave Crews and wish them all safe passage in the year to come.

“YEStival” Sunday 25 August:
Our local charity “YES at the Edge” are holding another outside Event at Brixham Rugby Club 10am – 4pm.  We are already committed at the Torbay Regatta in Torquay for 3 days but we can get together the resources (Gazebo & Souvenirs) to help YES out but we will need volunteers to run the Souvenir Stall, can you help please?

“One Moment – One Crew”  Thursday 1 August @ 1824hrs (6.24pm)
Part of the national RNLI 200th Anniversary Events where all Branches are encouraged to take a photograph of their “One Crew” (Lifeboat Crew, Fundraisers, Coastal Safety Team, Launch Authorities etc) on the Anniversary date in 1824.
Nigel Millard (Crew Member and Photographer) would like us gathered by 6 pm (1800 hrs) that evening on the Breakwater Beach where our Severn Class ALB will provide a backdrop for us all to gather in front of for this historic photograph.  Just BE THERE!!
