One Crew Newsletter 24082026:

After the wonderful Storm Fest 160 on Saturday it’s hard to know where to start this Newsletter, however may I make you aware of;-

Ro’ie Richardson’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 9 September at 12 noon at Stockman’s Chapel.  Please note there is limited room (50) but the Family invite you to light refreshments at Brixham Yacht Club following the Service.

Storm Fest 160: Well I don’t think there is much I can add to the spectacle that we observed as the flotilla of vessels accompanied the Gig into the harbour together with the array of Lifeboats, historical and present.
Helen’s Service was, as expected, a poignant one recalling that fateful day in January 1866 and the eventual outcome of us receiving our first Lifeboat care of the generosity of the people of Exeter.
Those who pulled the Gig over from Teignmouth and those who rowed it across the Bay will, I believe, never forget those moments for the rest of their lives.  Our thanks go to the crew of Teignmouth and Torbay Lifeboat Stations, Greasy our Coxswain and Amy from Brixham Gig Club for spearheading the whole adventure and also to Torbay’s Deputy Press Officer Klaus Goddard for his project management over the months.
After the Service everyone descended upon the celebrations within Kings Quay with Food, Music and some much-needed liquid refreshment. My personal thanks go to all the TLF volunteers who managed the Entrance, sold Raffle tickets and kept an eye on the numbers coming in and going out so we remained legally responsible as well as managing the Children’s Entertainment and First Aid. The Shop crew kept the doors open late and had a mega business day.
Luke Netherton and his Crew friends and from Brixham Trawler Agents served up some wonderful fish assortments.  Once again Sam Camplin (Camplin’s Cakes) gathered a mouthwatering list of Raffle prizes.
These past two days have been spent putting everything back together again.
Financially we should have a “feel” for the outcome mid-week, but I am sure we shall not be disappointed.

August Stalls @ LBS, Sunday 30th 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
On the tail of Storm Fest we start to draw the curtain down on our hectic Fundraising events with our Stalls outside the Lifeboat Station.  Books, Jigsaws, Cakes, Bric-a-Brac and Crafts will all be on display once again.  Two of our Craft Team are celebrating a special birthday so will not be with us but if anyone can offer to help on their Stall please let Nige, Jackie or myself know, everything is priced up so all you have to do is take the money!!  Help in setting the Stalls up from 9 a.m. on Sunday and taking everything down at 4 p.m. will be much appreciated, and Cake donations are a yummy must!!
Cover the Flags continue into the next Programme so thanks to Cathy & Hazel for continuing to run that with such precision.

Event Programme September – December (with a glimpse of Jan 2027) is now available HERE
