Audrey Armitage:
Audrey has followed all to soon in the footsteps of Ro’ie when she passed away last Wednesday morning. Another of our absolute stalwart supporters, Audrey was always seen at our Coffee Mornings, with Ro’ie and Norma. At the time of the Lifeboat Crew’s Kilimanjaro Climb her lounge was a “shrine” of memorabilia, Audrey having herself in her younger days, made the trek our intrepid 8 crew members undertook that year. She has had a few accidents at home in recent 18 months necessitating stays in hospital, Angela Osborne who lives opposite was in daily contact with her and they were about to set off for our Coffee Morning at Paignton when it happened.
She had requested a simple cremation so there will be no public funeral.
Sunday 27 September – Annual Dedication Service of Lifeboats, Old Fish Quay (opp Bay Coffee) – 6.30 p.m. – 7.30 p.m.
Join us once again as we pay tribute to our brave Lifeboats Crews, with seafaring hymns, songs and poetry. Brixham Town Band, Harbour Buoys and Brixham Sea Rangers will be supporting the event led by Helen Lovell-Smith Fishermen’s Mission Area Manager – Devon.
Thursday 1 October – Hoopers’ Fashion Show, Torquay – 5.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m.
There are still Tickets, just £10, left at the Shop and Kiosk for this very enjoyable evening. We really do not want to have to return any unsold tickets to the store so please grab yours very soon.
Lifeboat Saturday 10th October @ Morrisons 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Unfortunately, our efforts to secure a Bucket Collection slot at Sainsburys (Paignton) and Sainsburys (Willows) seem to have failed although I do have hope for the Willows late November/early December, so please keep that in mind. There are still one or two afternoon “slots” at Morrisons though so please contact Nigel, Jackie or myself if you can help there.
Tuesday 13 October Coffee Morning @ Old Market House, The Quay, Brixham 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.
A return to this popular and easily accessible venue, Cake Stall, Raffle and just £3 on the Door.
Tuesday 20th October Skittles v Crew, @ Brixham Cricket Club – 6.30 p.m.– 10 p.m.

Wednesday 21st October TLF Quiz Night @ Brixham Yacht Club – 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Our turn has come around again at this very popular monthly Quiz for local organisations. Barry Goldsmith will once again be our Quiz inquisitor. Those of you who know the set up at BYC well will note that we collect the Quiz entry fees (£4 p/p) from around the tables and also sell the Raffle tickets in the same manner. So, a “job” there for 4 people, if you can help just let me know ahead of the event. Also, a really “attractive” array of Raffle prizes (especially wine) works well in loosening the wallets and purse strings of contestants, so donations very welcome please.
If you wish to eat before the Quiz the kitchen is open from 6 p.m. just call the Bar on 01803 853332 to book a Table to eat or a Table for your 6-person (max) Team.
Christmas Tree:
In celebration of Torquay Central Church’s 50 years of opening, they are setting up 50 Fraser Fir 5ft tall Christmas trees in their big hall, to be decorated by local partners and charities, including the RNLI.
The festival will open on Saturday 12th December.
The trees will hopefully be set up by Monday 7th December allowing participants to decorate their tree. The charities will be able to have a collection box in front of their tree.
To help to celebrate and participate in the festival we are looking for donations of Christmas Tree Decorations and a set of plug-in lights to make the RNLI tree look sparkly and festive, and encourage those extra donations.

Jam Jars:
Barbara Smithson is back on her ever popular, jam-making trail but would appreciate some empty & clean jars. Either bring your jars to one of our coffee mornings or drop them off at the Shop or Kiosk marked for Barbara’s attention and I am sure Dave would pick them up.
Exchange is no robbery:
Talking of our intrepid Treasurer, Dave has a $20 US note (possibly from a CTF event) and probably worth around £15 but it can be yours for £10. Just contact him on 01803 666171 to do the deal.
Raffles:
I recently informed you that Doug and Jen have decided to hang up their Raffle books for health reasons, they have been stalwarts on the Raffle since Joan retired some years ago. We really cannot do without the income from the Raffles at our Coffee Mornings and other events so please consider whether you (and your loved one, or just a friend) can fill this void in the near future. By all means contact me for more information.
