March Newsletter

As we enter another month and Spring beckons there have been some highs but unfortunately some lows.  The key downside occurred following the AGM when a number of Members tested Positive for Covid.  We hope those who contacted it are now on the road to recovery, however this is a lesson to the Committee and in particularly myself not to take our eye of this continued threat to our health and plan our activities accordingly.

Those who were at the AGM will have enjoyed our Treasurer, Dave Smithson’s presentation.  Dave has provided a synopsis of his presentation and the Accounts and they will be attached to my next e-mail.

Event Programme:
In time for the AGM Barbara managed to assemble the April – September period and everyone should have received a copy.  We appreciate you have missed this during the lockdown period as we could not really plan a great deal with any certainty but we think you will find we have a packed Programme starting over in Torquay with a CTF & Souvenir Stalls alongside the Palace Theatre.

Also in April we have another Bucket Collection in Morrisons foyer, so if you can spare an hour on Sat 16 April please contact Cathy Craig on 857106 or nick.craig13@outlook.com

In 12 months-time a group of the more “mature” crew members will be attempting to climb the famous Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.  But, along the way all the Crew will be taking up 5 more challenges;- May – Skydive; June – Cycle: July – Swim; September – Row; November – Drive. Each of these are rigorous events aimed to test our intrepid men to the limits.  The overall key target is to raise at least £60,000 to assist the refurbishment of the Lifeboat Station.

They are looking to recruit Gold (£1,000) Silver (£500) and Bronze (£250) sponsors, mainly corporate ones who will have their logos attached to a display opposite the LBS.  The public can also sponsor them by buying a Sponsor Sticker from the Kiosk staff for just £5, add their name and stick it to the display next to the Kiosk. They also have a donation link at www.justgiving/campaign/RNLITorbayKili23

Good Luck Everyone!!

Shouts:
After a hectic January, February was a lot quieter;-

3 calls for the ILB none of which amounted to a need of direct assistance to anyone at risk, however the one ALB shout was to a yacht 4 miles east of Berry Head which had broken steering.  The vessel with its crew of 5 was towed into Brixham Marina.

Until next time, Stay Safe

Peter

Kind Regards

Peter
