A Service of Thanksgiving to mark 200 years of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) will be held in Westminster Abbey on Monday 4 March 2024 .. 11.30am – 12.30pm

The RNLI will celebrate its 200th anniversary this year. Since being founded in 1824 the charity’s lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 144,000 lives.
Throughout 2024, the charity will be commemorating its history, celebrating the lifesaving service it provides today, and aiming to inspire future generations of lifesavers and supporters.
The service at Westminster Abbey will mark this major milestone, with a congregation made up of representatives from RNLI lifesaving communities around the UK and Ireland.
Our TLF Chair Peter Thorp said: “This is the one occasion in the year a representative from every RNLI community will be coming together for this milestone moment, taking place at the same time the founding papers were created 200 years previously – let’s make this service as inclusive as possible and get it out on every available platform on that day so all RNLI people and supporters can be part of the moment.”
