Cox Mark Criddle spotted a yacht anchored off Goodrington near the shore, that was not in a good place in the weather conditions with an easterly 4/5 blowing
He contacted Solent Coastguard and it was agreed there could be something amiss so the ALB was launched.
It turned out that the lone sailor on a 26’ catamaran had a fouled anchor.
The ALB took the vessel in tow, dan buoyed off the anchor and towed the vessel to Torquay harbour so he could moor up.
The ALB then returned to recover the anchor to prevent the temptation of the owner returning on scene to recover the anchor in poor weather.
