Lifeboat Used	ALB
Location of Casualty	English Channel area.

Directed to launch from Solent Coastguard at 10:32am.
Mayday call from boat station sinking 8 miles East of Berry Head.
Launched at 10:40am and reached location at 11:02. Boat had already sunk. Flotsam included one of the two crew. Our ALB picked him up and began Expanding Square search pattern for 2nd crew member (see image below).
Joined by Exmouth’s Shannon Lifeboat plus four trawlers, a yacht and two Coastguard helicopters plus a fixed wing plane.
Conducted multi vessel Parallel Tracksearch pattern.
At 3:45pm our ALB tasked to investigate swimmer seen near Thatchers Rock. This was not the missing crew member, nor even in distress.
ALB returned to refuel and take agreed break whilst Solent Coastguard reconsidered next steps with local police.
Formally stood down at 20:00hrs
