Both boats launched following reports of cries for help as the sea mist surrounded Meadfoot beach.
First informer was near the cafe above the beach so calls could have come from the Thunder hole area and she remembered seeing two vessels before mist closed in.
The decision was taken to send the ILB followed by the ALB as visibility was very poor.
On arrival there were a couple of paddle boarders and some anglers, they were questioned by the ILB crew and Coastgurd Rescue Team, no one admitted to shouting for help and nothing was found so both boats stood down and returned to station.
