Launched following a ‘Mayday’ from a 12m vessel one mile south of Hopes Nose with a fire onboard, there were 7 persons on board.
Before the ALB arrived another vessel had taken four people off leaving the skipper and two others still onboard.
On arrival one Crewman was put aboard the casualty vessel to assess the situation.
It was decided to take off two more people leaving the skipper and lifeboat Crewman onboard.
Although the fire appeared to be out there was still some heat around the engine cover so it was decided to tow the vessel to Brixham to the awaiting Fire Brigade and Coastguards ALB then returned to station.
