Location of CasualtyBreakwater Beach area.

A member of the public approached our RNLI fundraisers at the Lifeboat Station to report that a person appeared to be in trouble, struggling in the water approximately 200 metres off Breakwater Beach, near “an orange buoy”. Our ILB Crew and attendant Deputy Launch Authority (DLA) who were still at Station from the previous shout, ran across to Breakwater to check and it appeared the report was correct, so ILB launched at 12.27pm.
When the ILB arrived, there was no sign of swimmers. Our Crew and DLA checked the beach, where we discovered a female wearing an orange swim hat who had just gotten out of water where she’d been swimming with her 10-year-old granddaughter. The adult lady said both were okay, but the 10-year-old girl admitted to swallowing water. Our ILB Crew therefore requested Solent Coastguard ask their local CRT, on the ground, to check in with both casualties, ensure both really were well, and provide water safety advice.

ILB returned to station at 12.50pm.
