Information and coastguard requests coming from both Solent Coastguard and Falmouth Coastguard since the area borders and overlaps both domains of responsibility. Solent Coastguard initially contacted Torbay Lifeboat station to inform us that several people were spotted in a dinghy just off the rocks at Berry Head and that a local Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) were observing. Solent requested an ILB launch. Falmouth then took over and confirmed that five persons were actually on the rocks at Durl Head.
ILB duly launched at 20.48pm and arrived within 10 minutes. Three casualties managed to make their own way up to the cliff path assisted by CRT. The remaining two casualties were picked up by our ILB Crew and transferred safely to St Marys beach.
ILB returned to station at 21.35pm.
