HM Coastguard requested Torbay RNLI assist a 3.5-metre RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) that had broken down between Paignton and Brixham and was drifting out to sea.
Our In-shore Lifeboat (ILB) launched at 9:07pm and located the RIB by 9.15pm. Given the situation and potential danger of leaving the RIB to drift, our ILB crew asked the casualties to stay aboard, secured a towline and towed her carefully to Paignton harbour.
We arrived at 9:24pm and secured the RIB to the Visitor’s pontoon by 9.58pm.
After checking all casualties were well, we returned to station by 10:10pm and were back on service by 10:25pm.
