Tasked to assist an 18-foot speedboat that had broken down and was believed to be adrift off Paignton Pier with an “elderly” gentleman aboard.
At 5:31pm, we launched our D-Class, crewed with three of our youngest lifeboat volunteers.
The stricken speedboat was not where reported, but our crew managed to find her off Hollicombe, where they checked the gentleman was safe and well, then towed her to Torquay and returned to base.
