Coastguard paged the station at 0930 to request a Direction Finding (DF) reading from the ALB for the source of a high power carrier wave blocking VHF Channel 16 (the radio frequency designated as an international distress frequency.)
Initial readings were carried out by the available Crew at the station but were inconclusive, so a seaborne reading was requested.
At 1018 a crew assemble was initiated and the ALB was launched at 1039.
Readings were taken and they triangulated the source as Berry Head North Fort.
The ALB returned to station 1110 but only stood down at 1151 once the Coastguard Rescue Team had come to the same conclusion.
The Coastguard transmitter was the most probable source of the interference.
