In the early hours of Sunday morning Torbay lifeboat responded to reports of a vulnerable adult in the water in Torquay marina.
The inshore lifeboat (ILB) launched from Brixham at 01:03 arriving to the incident at 01:15, by which time the situation had escalated and two police officers responding to the incident had also entered the water in an attempt to assist the casualty.
The lifeboat crew remained on station to assist as necessary while Torbay coastguard recovered all persons to safety. When it was confirmed that the casualty and police officers were safely ashore, the crew, stood down and returned to the lifeboat station at 01:47.
