Following reports of a swimmer in difficulties at the northern end of Goodrington, the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) and her three crew made their way rapidly across the bay in a moderate easterly breeze. In sea swells of 1.5m the casualty was quickly spotted with their head frequently going under water and struggling to stay afloat.
The crew pulled the swimmer – who was bringing up lots of sea water, but breathing and very relieved – quickly into the safety of the boat. From there, the crew made best speed to Paignton harbour where the casualty was placed into the expert care of waiting crews from Torbay Ambulance Service
